14 0f 1001 Albums: Thelonious Monk's Brilliant Corners

I'm just going to assume the cover art to this album was redone in the future, because it does not look like it was taken in 1957. Anyways, this jazz is my least favorite of any jazz I've heard. There was no catchy beat, and I didn't like how the brass was played. The music didn't get better with each song either. I was expecting something a little different with a name like Thelonious Monk.
When I first read over the song list I sort of was relieved to find there were only five songs since I had a hesitance about the album. Then I looked at how long each song was, and I found that those five songs basically are like two songs a piece with the amount of time they run.
Not all the songs were terrible though. The most catchy one was 'Bemsha Swing'.  The piano was nice, and for the first time of listening the music seemed to fit together better than the other songs I had listened to on the album. There was something about the other songs where the music didn't flow together for me.
Besides all this I didn't find myself dancing to the music, or feeling any emotion. If I knew a fan of Thelonious Monk I would ask them what the appeal was to try to understand why he is on the 1001 albums I must listen to list. I'm sure there is one, I just didn't discover it.
