As I listen to jazz I wonder what the songs are about. Unlike a lot of music we currently listen to it doesn't have lyrics to accompany it. We have song titles that hint the composers had something in mind when they set to write the music. I think it would be interesting to hear the jazz musicians discuss that a bit, and figure out what inspired the to write, or who.
I think Count Basie has been my least favorite jazz musician though. It didn't catch me as much, and a lot of the music seemed slower than the usual jazz I've heard. I also don't remember as many songs I usually do after I've listened to an album.
So, I don't think Count Basie will be going on my playlist. From my search to find his music he seemed pretty difficult to find, and his music isn't as popular in search as the other people I've listened to so far. I won't say there wasn't catchy songs. A few songs caught my ears at random points when they picked up into full orchestra. Count Basie definitely is a good musician.
I'm sure I have more jazz to go especially still being in the 50s. It seemed to be the main form of music to listen to then since so many of the albums have been in that genre.
