177 of 1001 Albums: Derek and the Dominos' Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs

History
What is sad is that I didn't know Eric Clapton was apart of this album. That explains all the great guitar playing, and the fact that this is known as his greatest musical achievement. It peaked at #16 on the Billboard charts. It's also been granted a place in the Grammy Hall of Fame. Most of the critics responses were positive though some had a few problems with the album but few if they did. The most notable song from the album is "Layla".

My Thoughts
I was surprised to enjoy this bluesy rock album as much as I did. I think what made it as good as it was, was the addition of Clapton. The guitar added another element to it. For me the album was a tad long though, and I can see how some might say there are some fillers here and there. Not all the songs held consistently for me. There isn't a bad song on the album, there are just much stronger ones than others especially at the beginning of the album.

Rating 4 of 5.
