184 of 1001 Albums: Miles Davis' Bitches Brew

History
Miles Davis continues on with the sound he featured in In A Silent Way even further.  Davis infused more of the rock influenced styles than the traditional jazz ones. The reviews were a  mixed bag though over his new journey into this type of music. Despite this, it is one of the biggest turning points in jazz, and went on to win a Grammy for it's genre.  I think Duke Ellington summed it up best when he said that Davis was "the Picasso of jazz".  This one is definitely unique from the others I've heard.
My Thoughts
I had no idea I was going to enjoy this Miles Davis album as much as I did. I didn't dislike his previous work, but it wasn't much of something I thought I would listen to again. I'm liking his experimental exploration with the electronics though. There is still that trademark flavor of Davis you can recognize in it though. For some reason all I could imagine was someone having a breakdown of some sort while listening to this album. It's interesting to here how the music flows together without any lyrics.

Rating 3 of 5.
